Internationale reacties op nieuwe visie medicalisering en overdiagnose

In het artikel ‘Medicalisation and Overdiagnosis: What Society Does to Medicine’ bieden de auteurs een nieuwe kijk op de invloed van de samenleving en de maatschappelijke context op de geneeskunde, in het bijzonder op medicalisering en overdiagnose. Doorgaans wordt de relatie andersom gelegd waardoor de invloed van de samenleving op de geneeskunde onderbelicht blijft.

Het artikel vormde aanleiding voor drie vooraanstaande onderzoekers om elk vanuit hun eigen invalshoek hun licht te laten schijnen op de discussie over dit onderwerp. In reactie op deze commentaren schreven de auteurs het artikel ‘Define and Conquer: How Semantics Foster Progress; A Response to Recent Commentaries’.
